post(existence) is a project i began for my transdisciplinary poetics class. our assignment was to create a project inspired by a past project that failed. the project i chose had me thinking about poetic interventions, friendship, communication, and failure.
in post(existence) i send postcards addressed to the homes of dead artists that have shaped me. these cards go to homes that belong to someone else now or have become museums or fast food chains. these postcards are written with the full knowledge that the person they are addressed to will never get them. but the person who currently inhabits the same space as that artist will.
through this piece, i am considering the past lives of the landscapes we dwell in. i am considering the ghosts of landmarks and the history that has occupied that space and the ways in which we do (or do not honor it). here, i hope to document the cards themselves and what occurs to them after they are mailed.
here are the cards i have sent.
